The mouth houses a diverse microbiome of bacteria, including both health- and disease-associated species.1 We now know that oral diseases such as caries and periodontitis can be caused by an imbalance in the microbiome.
Naturally, salivary enzymes and proteins help to keep this delicate ecosystem in balance and the mouth healthy.1,2
Advances in our understanding of the oral microbiome point to a new approach - one of promoting a balanced microbiome in the mouth rather than elimination of bacteria.

Two recent studies now demonstrate the clinical benefit of Zendium’s balancing effect. In a clinical trial, after 13 weeks’ use, Zendium was superior to control across all three gingival indices measured1 and in the Zendium group, 83% of users improved their gingival health.1* In a separate, real-world study, long-term Zendium users had significantly better gingival health than users of regular toothpastes.2**
